Dr. Ranjit Rath has assumed the charge of Chairman cum Managing Director of Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL) (Formerly Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd.), a Mini Ratna CPSE under the Ministry of Mines.

A practitioner Geoscientist, Dr. Ranjit Rath is an alumni of IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur and Utkal University. Prior to this he was the General Manager with Engineers India Limited, New Delhi and was posted with Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd., New Delhi, a SPV under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. He has a portfolio of multifarious roles spanning from strategy formulation, business development, upstream asset management and application of geosciences & exploration geology in several important projects including creation of Strategic Petroleum Reserves (SPRs) a first of its kind initiative in India entailing underground rock caverns for strategic storage of crude oil - An intervention towards energy security.

Dr. Rath is a recipient of the prestigious National Geosciences Award 2016 from the Hon`ble President of India. He has co-authored an important book on "Underground Storage Technologies" and has published several technical papers and participated in conferences in India and overseas.

With his above 25 years of impeccable experience & expertise in the field of Geosciences as well as his corporate exposure would enable him to discharge his responsibilities as CMD, MECL. It is expected that MECL will continue to rise further and attain newer heights and would facilitate seamless convergence between central and state governments, industry and academia for the mines and mineral sector in the country.

Shri Ghanshyam Sharma, is a Chartered Accountant, having experience of more than 30 years in audit and working of various PSUs engaged in the field of Finance, Engineering, Telecommunication, Power, Consultancy, Construction and Paper, etc. He has worked in different capacities in varied Public Sector Undertakings like Telecom Consultants (India) Limited (TCIL), Nuclear Power Corporation Limited (NPCIL) and Hindustan Newsprint Limited (HNL). He has vast experience in the Project Management of Power and Telecom Projects.

Besides, he has got exposure in the field of financing of projects, i.e. raising of funds through issue of Bonds, Term Loan, Cash Credit etc. from bank and Suppliers’ Credit etc. He was widely travelled and served in India & abroad like Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Afghanistan beside special assignment with the United Nations.

Shri Ghanshyam Sharma has joined Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL) (Formerly Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd.) on 27th February, 2018. Prior to this, he was Director (Finance) in Hindustan Newsprint Limited (HNL).

Shri Arvind Kumar is an Engineering Graduate (B.Tech in Mining Engineering) from Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur (Rajasthan) and Masters in Engineering (M.Tech in Mine Planning) from Osmania University. He also did the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in General Management from ICFAI University.

Prior to this, Shri Arvind Kumar was serving as Executive Director (ED) of Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLC India Limited). Shri Kumar possesses rich experience in the coal mining industry for more than 33 years. Prior to joining NLC India Limited, Shri Kumar was working as General Manager (Mines) at Essel Mining and Industries Limited since February 2012, and established successful Mine Developer & Operator (MDO) at Bhuvaneshwari Open Cast Coal Mine in Coal India Limited.
